Immersive Fiction--want to try?

I recently completed an online course through the American Library Association called "Book As App" and I learned about so many cool things. Here's a first of its kind totally immersive ebook called The Survivors by Amanda Havard. Does anyone want to download it and then discuss with me?

It just needs a little love.

As I watched "A Charlie Brown Christmas" last night with my kids I was reminded of a really cool picture I saw online once of a tree made out of stacked books. Guess what I have a whole closet full of? Discarded books! Voila! Here's the Holland Library's own little Charlie Brown Christmas tree. I'm a little in love with the thing!

Did you say free books???!

How many of you are traveling over the break? If you'd like to take one of our ebooks along, check one out by clicking on that link in the top left corner of the page. If you don't find what you're looking for there, check out the public library's FABULOUS Overdrive service. All you need is your library card number and you can access hundreds, make that thousands, of ebooks and audiobooks that you can check out for 2 weeks FOR FREE. Free! I'm taking 2 audiobooks and a book on my Kindle app on my looong road trip. Learn how to download the Overdrive books here and let me know if you'd like for me to do a lunchtime learning session here at GPS all about Overdrive. I would be happy to! Happy Thanksgiving ya'll! Hey you multi-tasking teens, are you ready for this?

one day when I have free time...

I am going to make things like this and cover the library in beautiful, inspired, re-purposed book art. Instructions are here.

What are your favorite book-inspired crafts? I have a whole closet full of weeded books just waiting to be reinvented.

Can the movie ever top the book?

You be the judge! Let us know what you decide. I really liked both of these books...

Follett eBooks

Some of you might have heard about the new Follett eBook collection that we have begun. At this point, we have around 35 titles but after tomorrow's Grandparents' Day book sale, I'm hoping we have a lot more! It will be interesting to see if this generation of Grandparents are open to the idea of purchasing ebooks...I'll let you know! Here is a widget I just created when playing with Amazon's widget tool to promote just a few of the ebooks we purchased earlier this year: For instructions on accessing the ebook collection, just go here.
